Mobila is building upon its internal development knowledge, as well as, licensed intellectual property (IP) developed at NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory from Caltech. This IP includes a commercialization license to a real-time inference engine (software platform) called SHINE (Spacecraft Health Inference Engine) that was originally developed and used by NASA/JPL for space flight operations.

  • SHINE is the fastest inference engine on the market with real-time performance capabilities benchmarked at over 1,500,000,000 rules per second on conventional hardware.
  • SHINE is suitable for real-time embedded applications previously deemed unsuitable for expert systems.
  • SHINE provides ultra computing performance on desktops computers that were previously not even available on large mainframe systems.

SHINE has reduced operating costs and improved reliability and safety in eight NASA deep space missions including Voyager, Galileo, Magellan, Cassini and Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer (EUVE). It is a prototype operational system for the Deep Space Network. SHINE has been delivered to the NASA’s X-33 as a flight system component of JPL’s Avionics Flight Experiment (AFE).
